What is the ZOOM! Tooth whitening procedure?

The Zoom! whitening procedure begins with a short preparation to isolate your lips and gums. Zoom! whitening gel is applied on the teeth and activated by a specially designed light. Teeth typically become at least six to twelve shades whiter, sometimes more. A fluoride treatment completes the procedure. You will be amazed with the results!

We recommend a consultation and a thorough cleaning one week before the ZOOM! Tooth Whitening to remove stains and calculus, if present, and to take impressions for whitening trays. At the end of the whitening procedure you will receive Zoom! maintenance whitening gel to be used at home at your convenience in your whitening trays.

How does ZOOM! whitening work?

The ZOOM! In -office Whitening System consists of a halogen lamp filtered to emit light in the 350-400nm range. Unlike other systems, Zoom! light generates minimal heat which helps make the procedure comfortable. The Zoom! light activated gel was developed after years of research done by Discus Dental, the leader in professional tooth whitening. The gel is a proprietary scientifically formulated, ph balanced Hydrogen Peroxide that, when activated by light, gently penetrates the enamel and dentin to remove deep stains and discolorations. As the Hydrogen Peroxide breaks down, the oxygen is released and penetrates the teeth, removing stains caused by coffee, tea, chocolate, tobacco, red wine, sauce, beetroot, etc.

Will it hurt and are there any side effects?

To get fantastic results, the procedure will take at least 90 minutes. We begin with a preparation period of about 25 minutes followed by actual whitening with Zoom! ADVANCED POWER LIGHT for 45 minutes. At the end you will have the fluoride treatment. Taking time will give better results.

How white will my teeth become?

The results are spectacular! Clinical studies have shown that ZOOM! tooth whitening treatment achieved up to 12 shades lighter with the average being 8 shades. Individual results may vary and will depend upon your age, type of stains, initial tooth colour and any visible restorations (white fillings & crowns, bridges).

Your teeth will always be lighter than they were before. To keep your teeth looking their best, we recommend brushing twice a day, flossing, and using whitening gel in custom made trays once or twice a year. Stay away from staining products at least 48 hours after the ZOOM! procedure i.e. coffee, tea, red wine, and smoking.
